One of the new features of AutoCAD 2016 is the addition of a new Geometric Centre object snap. Using the Geometric Centre object snap you can snap to the geometric centre of polygons and closed polylines.
I’m going to show you how to do this with a polygon. First of all create a polygon using the following steps:
- Select Polygon from the draw ribbon
- Enter 5 for the number of sides
- Click the screen to position the polygon
- Enter to I for inscribed
- Enter 300 for radius
Your polygon will then be shown on screen.
Next you start the circle command;
Hold down the Shift button and right click on your mouse
Select Geometric Centre on the list of options
Then, when you hover over the shape the centre will be clearly shown. Select the centre.
Your circle will be drawn from the geometric centre of the polygon.
