Autodesk Navisworks 2016 includes a number of new features and enhancements to make the software more user friendly, here are just a few of these new additions.
BIM 360 Integration
There is now closer integration between Navisworks and BIM 360 Glue which brings Navisworks tools to BIM 360. By connecting to BIM 360 you can now share coordinated BIM models containing Navisworks data with other Navisworks users in your BIM 360 Glue project team.
The data is synchronized automatically, saving time when working with a large, distributed team. Using a single data source, you can open, append and align models and merged models in Navisworks from BIM 360 Glue. Once multi-discipline models have been brought together in Navisworks, save back to Glue as a merged model, then enjoy access anywhere using a connected Navisworks or BIM 360 Glue web or mobile client.
Using BIM Coordination Models in AutoCAD
The development of Navisworks now enables the opening of Navisworks models within various design products – pushing project coordination upstream, so that designers can model ‘in-context’ which therefore promotes clash avoidance.
Users can now benefit from this, and can trial this new capability in AutoCAD 2016 based applications. Using the ATTACH command within AutoCAD, you can browse to and select your coordination model, in either NWD or NWC format, and view it within AutoCAD – similar to any other reference file
Users now have the ability to print 2D takeoffs and variable line thickness of 2D linear takeoffs.
Autodesk 2016 Product Integration
The latest version now supports updated files readers an file exporters ensuring that the latest version of design models and data can be reviewed and analysed. The updated Autodesk file readers, exporters and integrations include:
- AutoCAD 2016 file reader and exporter
- Civil 3D 2016 File reader and exporter
- Revit 2016 File reader and exporter and support for new MEP fabrication hangers
- Inventor 2016 File reader includes support for ReCap point cloud data
- 3ds Max 2016 File exporter
- Recap 2016 Integration
- Vault 2016 Integration
Third-Party Product Integration
Third Party software support has also now been enhanced to allow users to collaborate and review the entire project. Updated support for the following third-party format: Graphisoft ArchiCAD 17 & 18 file exporters and introduce support for Rhino file readers (up to version 5) and Adobe PDF file reader (2D). The addition of 2D PDF support is particularly important for Quantification workflows. Whether performing takeoff solely in 2D, or using sheets to supplement model-based takeoff, PDF is an important format for many of our customers.
